Cook Island Language week
Cook Island Language Week
It was fun learning about Cook Island words.
This morning in glen innes school the bell rang so we all have to line up on the court. Mr Hendriks told us things that were happening today like jelly beans music, visitors coming and teaching us mathematics and other things. When he finished talking our class ran around the astritive 2 times but it was raining so we had to come back to class and learn about Cook Island words.
Mrs Kumar teached us how to greet in cook island, how to say how are you in cook island, how to say I am fine in cook island and how about you in cook island. Mrs Kumar said to face your buddy and greet them. Greetings were on the board We opened the cabinet while they were greeting each other. We had to write about what happened in the morning until now. It was so fun learning about Cook Island words because we can greet the teachers and greet anyone.

Matariki Celebration
Matariki Celebration
Amazing matariki celebration ever.
On 24 of july 2020 in glen innes school we had a matariki celebration. We had a hungi, we made matariki posters and we got to go and visit other classrooms posters. Room 2,4 first came and visited us. They looked at our posters then Mr Hendricks came into our classroom and told us how proud he was about our posters. There are 9 sisters but most people think there are 7. The reason why you can't see the other two is because they are hiding away. We sang a song in maori which is called the matariki macarena. We went to room 4 and they sang it then we sang together with them. We went to all the classes in our school and they told us more about matariki.
We went to room 10,11,7,6,2 and 4. Their one was incredible. They made it neat and tidy and we were able to understand it. On the last break everyone came to the hall to eat the food that the cook islands made. It was chicken, vegetables, potato, and kumara. It was delicious and our drink we had was milk. It was the end of school and the bell rang. We all went home and we had a fantastic day because we got to look at other classes posters and impress our parents.

My Sun
Today in room 8 2020 I have made a sun by using paper, scissors, glue, and pencil. First you have to cut the paper in three halves. Second you have to fold two papers. Third you have to fold the paper again like a fan and make sharp sides .
When you're done you cut the sides like a sharp fence. After you use glue to glue both of the sharp paper together and the long paper you use it to make a circle for the sun's face. you can draw the eyes, nose, ears and mouth.
Well you can teach your siblings how to make a sun or teach your parents how to make one. You can make lots of suns and stick it on a paper and color it. I felt Incredible because I was so up for making a sun and showing it to my parents. But it was fantastic making a sun with my teacher and room 8 learners.

My Mask
On Monday 25th of May 2020, I made a paper towel mask. Mask is something which people wear to cover their full face or part of their face. People wear masks to protect themselves from viruses or airborne diseases.
Our teacher taught us how to make a mask by using a paper towel, rubber bands, and a stapler. First you have to fold the paper towel like a fan. Second, you have to fold the sides of the mask. Third, you have to put the two rubber bands on the sides. Fourth you have to staple it.
When you're done making your mask you can wear it or either give it to your siblings to wear. You can teach your siblings how to make it and you don't have to buy one. When I made the mask I was like how can you make a mask by using paper towels, a rubber band, and a stapler. But I felt excited when we were going to make it. When I saw my completed mask I felt like showing it to my parents as I was so amazed myself.

Lockdown
Lockdown is a state of isolation or restricted access instituted as a security measure. We started lock down on 26th of March 2020. Coronavirus is a disease which makes people feel unwell and sick. Another name for coronavirus is COVID19. The government came up with 4 levels and in level 4 we all had to stay home as there was a lockdown. In total there were 1,149 people who were infected with the virus in New Zealand.

My lockdown bubble
What does the lockdown bubble mean? I think lockdown bubbles means that I have to stay only with people in my household. Since the lockdown on the 2nd of April, I have been staying in Takanini because that is my bubble. There are 4 people in my household, that is my dad, my mum, my sister and myself. We have to stay in our bubble for 4 weeks.
The lockdown rule was made by the government and the prime minister Jacinda Ardern announced it on tv. If you break the prime minister's rule you have to pay more than 100 dollars. The purpose of this lockdown is to slow down the spread of the coronavirus, also protecting people from getting infected from corona virus especially the high risk people like elderly people. During this lockdown, I’m enjoying learning my times tables and place value, playing games and helping my mum clean up the house.
